Character Information
Name: Xion
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Age: Just under a year old (physically appears 14)
Appearance: With her hood up
Current appearance
Normal appearance
Canon Point: Day 357, prior to her bossfight
History: I'm so glad I have this written up
Personality: An important thing to note is Xion's sense of identity - or rather her lack of it. As of right now, she truly sees herself as a part of Sora. She may not be with him. She may want to stay with her friends. But that's not where she truly belongs, and not where she can stay. Tied into this is her sense of self-worth which, likewise, is not very high. What right does she have to exist, when she's literally eating her best friend alive? When she's keeping one of the only people capable of stopping Xemnas asleep? She's just a puppet, nothing more. A puppet made by Organization XIII for purposes she does not understand, but knows are not good.
Xion has a very all-or-nothing way of dealing with pressure; when faced with it, her resolve either hardens like steel or crumples entirely. An example of the former would be when faced with all of the different obstacles and pressures against returning to Sora. During all this time, even when facing her own friends, her resolve never wavers - not that we can see. On the other hand, when faced with Saix's criticisms of her performance and her existence, she breaks away and flees the situation, unable to withstand his insults. The difference that determines which of the two reactions is difficult, but generally, when the cause is one she considers worthwhile, she's much more likely to face any pressure associated with dignity. Especially when her friends are involved.
To Xion, the most important things are her friends. They were all she had to live for the longest time, and later, they're what she was willing to give up everything for, rather that let herself live to be the one to destroy them. They are an utterly inextricable part of her life - she's spent most of her days with them, and they've helped her out of many a tight spot and through many a difficult time. Particularly with Roxas and Axel, she admits outright in her personal journal that she loves them - a very bold claim after being raised in an environment where she's constantly told she cannot feel (even if her being a Nobody is a lie).
Under more normal circumstances, Xion can be curious and inquisitive. In the end, she's still not even a year old, experience-wise. Her knowledge base is patchy at best - it's shown once in canon that she knew what a candelabra was, and yet didn't understand the concept of love without explanation. She's willing to ask questions, particularly with people she trusts.
However, when it comes to people, particularly ones she doesn't know, she's much more cagey. She's less shy and skittish than she could be, owing to her not being as married to Organization doctrine as she used to be, but she's definitely no socialite. Even for those she does meet and speak to, it can be difficult to get her to open up. With her deepest secrets, particularly her origins, what she is, and what she was made for, she plays her cards very close to her chest, and it can take a great deal of time before she'll willingly show her hand.
It doesn't help that when Xion is faced with a very upsetting or stressful personal events or revelations, Xion's instinct is to withdraw. Canon shows how, upon being confronted with her failures by Saix, her defeat at the hands of Riku, and the slow emergence of Sora's memories, Xion abandons her friends at the clock tower and stops spending time with them and speaking with them. Similarly, she does not discuss how her Keyblade has stopped working for her until pressed. She does not wish to burden her friends with her problems, and doesn't even like talking about them until she can understand and figure them herself - an extremely difficult task, given her own inexperience. However, Xion is very bad at hiding her emotions, so even to those who don't know her well, should they find her, it will likely be all too clear that something is bothering her.
Xion can be very sentimental - she's the one who starts the tradition of leaving Roxas a gift on his pillow (a shell) every day while he's asleep. She also shows a fondness for collecting shells, and always keeps a Thalassa shell with her (until Roxas took it). She holds her memories in very high regard - almost as high as her friends. They're all that she really has that is "her own," and they're all that will be left when she returns to Sora.
Abilities:
Strengths: ① Keyblade - it's the one reason she's ever been told she's had any worth. Xion is able to wield a special weapon called the Keyblade, a unique weapon of both a physical and magical nature that are particularly effective against the Heartless of KHverse. It also has the unique ability to be able to lock or unlock any door or passageway.
The Keyblade in general can be augmented and given extra powers/abilities by accessories called Keychains. In Days, most of the Keychains were varieties of Gears. Xion probably doesn't have access to quite the number of keychains that Roxas does but still.
2. Magic - Xion is totally better at magic than Roxas tho.
3. Corridors of Darkness - SPOOKY DOORS LETS YOU GO PLACES BUT YOU GOTTA WEAR A COAT FIRST.
4. Movement abilities - sharing with Roxas, Xion has several movement abilities that don't quite... adhere to normal physics, or at the very least require great amounts of athletic and acrobatic skill. Some of the former include abilities like Glide, which allow her to... well, glide horizontally across gaps, slowly moving downwards as she goes (it can become true flight, theoretically, when augmented by pixie dust), and Float, which allows her to control and dramatically slow her falling speed. The latter includes abilities like Block, Dodge Roll (a quick somersault used to avoid attacks and damage), and Aerial Recovery (allows her to right herself after being knocked into the air by an enemy before hitting the ground)
5. Heart connections - Xion is a Sora replica who has been absorbing memories and powers from the both of them. Basically what this amounts to is anything Roxas and Sora are capable of learning or doing, she is just as capable - even likely to be able to learn and do as well. Abilities? Identical. Limit Break? They have the exact same one.
It also means that anything Mala wrote down in Roxas' that I forgot is probably fair game though I'll try not to forget anything I promise
Weaknesses: 1. Life... tether... thing - Right now her powers are inextricably linked with Roxas'. Severely so. It's essentially a tug of war of power that she has no control over, and right now, thanks to the interference of Xemnas, she's winning by a mile and she really doesn't want to be. If something isn't done to nullify it or bring her powers back in check, she could end up essentially parasitizing Roxas of all he has to give, which could effectively destroy him. (Yes this is something I want to have brought up and dealt with icly) Meanwhile, the inverse is also tentatively true. Before she gets a stronger gripand quite possibly "her own," canon information on inheritance is unclear on a Keyblade, she gains the ability to use her Keyblade from Roxas, and later loses it when he wakes up. This end of the spectrum is less of a concern at this point, but still worth mentioning to demonstrate how this whole thing works. Sort of. Xion can be confusing okay.
2.
#. Corridors of Darkness - As with Roxas, this is a teleportation ability and thus restricted to the 30 yards rule and she'll be restricted from actual worldhopping.running away when you can't deal with things is going to be a lot harder now isn't is Xion
